Take an exclusive look behind-the-curtain! Enjoy this thoughtful presentation by Diamond Schmitt Architects (DSAI) Project Architect Arne Suraga, who shares in-depth details from the recent design and construction of the new Engineering Design Centre (EDC) at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The new EDC building connects to Carleton’s existing Mackenzie Building on Library Road and provides a dedicated space for undergraduate students to collaborate on fourth-year Capstone design projects. EDC was a significant undertaking with ambitious building envelope performance targets, all made even more challenging by the recent pandemic and associated supply chain and labour disruptions. Of course, creativity and vision always find a way!

This project proudly features GlasCurtain’s fibreglass-framed triple-glazed curtain walls with bird-friendly glass and marks our first completed project in the Ottawa area. We’re also excited to announce that we now have two more projects under construction in the Ottawa area, all of which continue to showcase the amazing possibilities of high-performance glazed facades in cold climates.

GlasCurtain would like to sincerely thank Arne Suraga for sharing his presentation and invaluable insights with us. We would also like to extend our thanks to the in-person attendees from HDR, IBI Group, Hobin Architecture, and NORR, who joined us live at EDC last month to experience this wonderful new building and project showcase.

We hope you enjoy Arne’s presentation as much as we did! » YouTube Link
