Project
Denisiqi Services Society Child and Family Services Centre
Denisiqi Services Society delivers holistic, strengths-based, and culturally grounded child and family programs for the Tsilhqot’in and Ulkatchot’en Nations. As the Society’s previous facility had outgrown its capacity and accessibility, a renovated and expanded building was envisioned to better support staff, programs, and long-term community needs.
The renewed centre is designed to foster healing, safety, and connection, both within the building and to the surrounding landscape. Generous glazing supports daylight-filled interiors, creating welcoming spaces for care, gathering, and cultural programming, while exterior connections and outdoor spaces extend the building’s role as a community hub.
Building performance was a key consideration in the renovation strategy. GlasCurtain’s Thermaframe 4 double-glazed fibreglass curtain wall system was selected to support reliable thermal performance, durability, and occupant comfort while reducing embodied carbon compared to conventional aluminum systems. The system helps maintain stable interior conditions, limit heat loss at the frame, and manage condensation risk, important factors for a facility focused on long-term stewardship and consistent operation.
Once complete, the centre will consolidate programs and services into a single, accessible location, with capacity for future growth, community events, and cultural gatherings. The result is a resilient, inclusive facility that supports families, staff, and community life for decades to come.
