Saddle Lake Elementary School

Completed in 2023, the Saddle Lake Elementary School (K-6) is an exciting new educational space for the Saddle Lake Cree Nation of Alberta. Located on Treaty 6 Territory about 180 km northeast of Edmonton, Reimagine Architects designed this elementary school to complement the Nation’s existing junior/senior high school, which was also designed by Reimagine all the way back in 1993.

One of the stated design goals was to bring the new elementary school as close as possible to Net-Zero standards, which our Thermaframe 7 fibreglass-framed curtain wall systems certainly contributed towards. With an excellent building envelope, a more modest HVAC system could also be specified, which not only reduces operational and maintenance costs but also improves built environment resiliency for generations to come.
