As the 211th global edition of the conference, ZAK Calgary brought together leading architects, engineers, consultants, manufacturers, and façade specialists to explore the future of high-performance building envelopes. The Calgary event placed a timely focus on durable façade design, sustainable construction, and the homegrown technologies driving forward the next generation of institutional architecture.

Our presentation, Northern Resilience: Zero-Tariff Façades for Net-Zero Buildings, looked at why façade specification is becoming increasingly connected to supply chain resilience, carbon reduction, and long-term performance. In a province shaped by cold winters, demanding public accountability, and ambitious sustainability goals, Calgary was a fitting place to elevate this conversation.

The key focus of the presentation was the Red Deer Justice Centre, the new $250-million, eight-storey courthouse designed by DLR Group and Group2 Architecture. Demonstrating what’s possible when high-performance design is supported by local manufacturing excellence, this project features GlasCurtain’s Thermaframe 7 fibreglass-framed curtain wall system, showcasing how intentional and intelligent specifications help drive local jobs while lowering carbon impacts and driving superior long-term community value.

We invite you to watch the full presentation to learn how your next project can benefit from our high-performance façades!
