GlasCurtain Heads to Venice for the 2025 PBFD Conference
May 15, 2025
This September, façade experts from around the world will gather in Venice for the Performance-Based Façade Design Conference (PBFD) — and GlasCurtain will be there!!
PBFD is an international gathering of architects, engineers, builders, and envelope specialists focused on the future of façade design. Through keynotes, case studies, and site visits, the conference explores how performance metrics — like thermal efficiency, daylighting, durability, and carbon reduction — can drive better design outcomes. This year’s theme, Technology Meets Nature, invites participants to explore how advanced systems and material strategies can align with ecological values and regional climate demands.
We’re excited to share that Peter Dushenski, Managing Director at GlasCurtain, has been invited to present as part of this year’s conference lineup.
What We’ll Be Presenting
Peter’s presentation, “The Cold, Hard Facts: Achieving Beauty, Durability, and Daylight North of 60°”, will explore how façades in cold climates can meet the highest standards for performance and aesthetics. From managing aggressive temperature swings to minimizing condensation and carbon emissions, cold climate design demands a different kind of thinking — one that balances beauty with building science.
A key focus of Peter’s talk will be on how to optimize window-to-wall ratios in northern geographies to bring in daylight, improve occupant wellbeing, and reduce energy use — all while keeping embodied carbon to a minimum. Drawing on recent project experience from Canada’s North, he’ll demonstrate how fibreglass-framed curtain wall systems can enable design teams to achieve thermal performance and elegance without compromise.
