Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) New Academic Building (NAB)

Concordia University of Edmonton’s (CUE) New Academic Building (NAB) stands as a testament to GlasCurtain’s innovative approach, marking our first venture into field applications of VIG technology. Crafted with precision by Reimagine Architects and Najfeldt Architect, this cutting-edge educational facility boasts 55 offices, 22 breakout rooms, 15 classrooms, 3 labs, 2 lecture theatres, and a spacious two-storey underground parkade.

Located in Edmonton, AB, the NAB is North America’s first project to integrate triple-glazed Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) units, enhancing the center-of-glass performance by a staggering 50% compared to traditional triple-glazing. This groundbreaking VIG glazing, paired with our industry-leading Thermaframe 8 fibreglass framing system, results in the most thermally efficient curtain wall North America has seen to date.

This remarkable achievement was made possible with the support of the Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA) and expertly overseen by Chandos Construction as the General Contractor. We’re proud to contribute to this transformative project, setting a new standard for sustainable, high-performance buildings.
