David and Ruth Asper Early Learning Centre

The David and Ruth Asper Early Learning Centre, situated within the Rady JCC organization in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a testament to innovative repurposing.

Once a vacant firehall, this non-profit daycare, designed by Architecture 49, has been transformed into a warm and inviting learning space catering to children aged 18 months to five years. Its innovative fibreglass-framed curtain wall replaces old garage bay doors, artfully utilizing the northern exposure to fill the interior with soft, naturally diffused sunlight. Completed in 2016, this thoughtfully designed project spans 3,781 sqft.
