The Canada Green Building Council’s (CaGBC) Product of the Year Award winners have just been announced and GlasCurtain has been granted Runner-Up honours!

At the CaGBC National Conference in Vancouver BC on June 4, GlasCurtain’s fibreglass composite curtain wall framing system was recognized for its outstanding performance in four key areas: sustainability, transparency and verification, innovation, and application. In these areas, GlasCurtain was recognized, respectively, for : it’s 50% reduction in embodied energy and 35% reduction in thermal bridging relative to aluminum systems ; completion of Life Cycle Assessment by Athena Sustainable Materials Institute and Health Product Declaration by ToxServices LLC ; innovative use of new composite materials ; and installation in Alberta’s first LEED Platinum net-zero commercial building.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the judges can be summed up in this one comment:

“GlasCurtain has produced a better framing product.”

We have to say, we’re inclined to agree! After winning the Canada Innovation Award last year, this Runner-Up honour is another outstanding validation and a significant accomplishment for our team. Not even two years since our launch at Greenbuild, the sustainable building community in Canada is really embracing the fibreglass future!

Thank you to CaGBC for continuing to lead Canada towards a more sustainable future and for this fantastic recognition, and congratulations to DIRTT for taking home the inaugural Product of the Year Award!
